About the Role

Samsara’s Hardware manufacturing and quality engineer is responsible for driving Samsara’s 3rd party manufacturing partners to ramp high-quality, well-validated new products. The NPI engineer will manage key new product planning & operations for pre-production builds from prototype through production, across Samsara’s portfolio of Industrial IoT products. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Drive Samsara pre-production builds from a technical, operational & quality-management perspective
  • Adeptly manage Samsara’s JDMs to deliver high-quality new products on time
  • Establish new product quality control standards & process controls with Samsara engineer(s), ensure strong implementation & ongoing execution by JDM manufacturing partners
  • Support reliability engineering validation process with Samsara engineers & manufacturers
  • Collaborate with JDMs & Samsara engineers to developing & implement manufacturing process & testing flow, equipment/ fixture designs, implementation schedules & validation plans
  • Communicate project readiness, track major risks & corrective actions, & creatively problem solve issues that arrive during builds & production ramp
  • Develop robust processes for analyzing factory & field failures & implementing corrective actions with engineering or factory process team(s)

An ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years experience in hardware engineering or manufacturing or production management - proven ability to effectively manage factory build events & vendors
  • Proven track record of effective 3rd party (JDM) communication & oversight
  • Strong communication & organizational skills
  • Attention to detail & ability to manage detailed build planning
  • Self motivated, proactive, creative & critical problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to support international travel to collaborate with US counterparts         
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering required, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred

Regarding COVID-19

With the spread of COVID-19, Samsara's global offices will remain closed until further notice with the exception of employees that require access to hardware and lab equipment. 

Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of our employees as well as candidates. We have transitioned all interviews and onboarding to be conducted virtually via Zoom video conferencing. Employees are also able to work from countries and states where Samsara is a registered entity through June 2021. All employees are expected to return to our offices when they reopen with the exception of field-based roles.
