Operational Risk Manager
We are looking for an Operational Risk Manager in our Operations team.
This is an exciting opportunity to help design and implement enhancements to 1st and 2nd line risk capabilities for Funding Circle UK, participating in and overseeing key risk management activities and executing applicable risk monitoring, reporting, and governance responsibilities.

The role
The Operational Risk Manager will work independently and with a high degree of initiative to support the Head of Risk & Controls Assurance with embedding a risk management framework and culture to improve risk identification, management, treatment and reporting across the organisation.
This role requires the need to work closely and broadly across the business to enhance decision making whilst reducing operational risk and improving overall business resiliency.
Promoting a strong, continually developing risk culture, where managing risk is simply part of how we work
Driving change and innovation by managing risk “path-to-green” processes and risk treatment plans, as required, providing analysis to ensure Operational risks remain within appetite
Working closely with both Risk Owners/Delegates and the 2nd/3rd Line of Defence to assess and treat risk
Providing risk advice and guidance which may include leading on risk initiatives, RCSA, providing oversight on projects, change programmes and ad-hoc pieces of work
Developing, reporting and assessment (Key Controls and Key Risk Indicators, both leading and lagging, risk deep dives, etc.)
Issue management process (tracking, reporting, escalation and resolution of issues).
Supporting business owners with the design and testing of controls to manage Funding Circle’s business safely, sustainably and within risk appetite
Providing risk briefings to senior colleagues when required, ensuring risks, issues and appetite breaches are monitored and escalated thoughtfully.
Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
What we’re looking for
Experience in Operational Risk Management, across first and second line of defence teams, preferably in the financial services/lending space
Experience developing and testing end-to-end lending controls
Solid understanding of the three lines of defence operating model
Be able to identify complex areas of operational risk, including proven track record of dealing with change, technology, operational and 3rd party risks
Analytical skills – able to analyse and interpret key facts across a spectrum of data sources, providing stakeholders with clear and concise recommendations and reports
