Marshalls Civils and Drainage is a leading manufacturer of precast concrete drainage and bespoke products with manufacturing sites in Pollington and Mells. We are now looking for an Operations Team Manager to support the Operations Manager in the management and running of the Mells site.

What’s the mission?

  • Accountable for all operational activities in defined area of responsibility. Provide Leadership and management for assigned team / shift of Operations Team Members.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that quality standards are clearly communicated and adhered to.
  • Zero tolerance approach to breaches in safety standards, ensuring that everything (Pre-start checks, PPE, Lock off, behaviours, contractor activity) within assigned department/shift is compliant with policies/procedures and associated site controls.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all by behaving in a way consistent with safe working and proactively challenge colleagues if they are putting themselves or others at risk.
  • Maximise and constantly improve manufacturing performance to meet/exceed target OEE.
  • Support the Operations Manager to meet/exceed KPIs by ensuring that business objectives are cascaded through to the manufacturing teams, engaging the ‘hearts and minds’ of the company’s employees to create and sustain a pro-active culture in all disciplines across the business.
  • Ensuring that all required process controls checks/records are completed to the company standard. Escalation/management of quality incidents through non-conformance process, ensuring all affected product or material is contained/controlled
  • Delivery of team briefs/toolbox talks in a timely manner and spirit in which they are intended. Support the team to ensure that any initiatives are embraced and actioned.
  • To demonstrate Marshalls values (Leadership, Excellence, Trust, and Sustainability) in every day behaviours.

What’s the mission criterial skills?

  • IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate and other relevant qualifications eg ILM, Lean Six Sigma desirable.
  • Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing site with responsibility for a team of 10 or more employees.
  • Ideally, some experience of operating in a traditional employee relations climate/heavily unionised environment.
  • A knowledge & understanding of Overall Equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Some experience of implementing continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques eg DMAIC, would be an advantage.
  • Experience of maximising the potential of others including development and performance management. Demonstrable experience of driving and improving site performance
