About the team

Our in-house Legal Team support The Very Group across multiple sites, working at pace to support the business. You will find our solicitors are approachable and passionate about continually driving knowledge and performance across the area.

The Paralegal role plays an important part in supporting the wider legal team in delivering commercial recommendations to The Very Group. The team work on-site from our Speke Head Office from Tuesday-Thursday.

About the role

  • Contract reviews and negotiations, including confidentiality agreements, data processing agreements and tender documentation.
  • Advising on, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts with third party suppliers.
  • Undertaking contractual due diligence activities – contract management and drafting precedents.
  • Supporting litigation work (including attending mediations/trials, supervising deadlines, corresponding with third party solicitors and courts, and completing standard court documentation).
  • Supporting on a wide range of financial services related work, including the provision of regulatory advice for consumer credit and insurance activities to ensure the business remains compliant with its regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting a range of commercial projects, attending meetings, and advising the business on questions and queries.
  • Researching a variety of legal subjects (including contract law, competition law, data protection, product liability and intellectual property).
  • Supporting the Head of Consumer Affairs with consumer and advertising queries, prize competitions & similar T&Cs.
  • Providing corporate administrative support and training presentations and updates.
  • Undertaking general administrative tasks as requested e.g. raising payments, photocopying, e-filing etc.

About you

You will have experience in the legal industry as a Paralegal, a Legal Secretary or a Legal Assistant, and you will ideally possess the following skills to be able to support our Legal team.

  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
