The WPP People team is adding a People Manager role designed to support our Global Finance Team as well as US/NYC-based activity for Corporate Teams. Reporting to the Director, People Business Partner, the People Manager will deliver core People support to our WPP colleagues.

What you'll be doing:

The People Manager will help lead and/or manage all generalist HR areas, including employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, talent management and people projects designed to support WPP’s talent strategy while meeting current, emerging, and future business models.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with corporate leadership and their teams, with the ability to challenge, coach, advise and work closely with them to co-develop solutions to meet current and future business needs.
  • Team with and support the Director, People Business Partner on the planning and implementation of key HR projects as required.
  • Develop and drive performance management processes in support of the shift to continuous feedback culture. Support midyear and yearend performance processes. Using knowledge from past performance management processes, evaluate and provide feedback on improvements, influence team and leaders on appropriate enhancements and changes.
  • Partner with the business leadership team to assess and prioritize the critical business challenges faced by the organization
  • Work with leaders to identify training needs critical for employee growth and development. Partner with the Learning team to develop learning opportunities addressing specific needs across functions.
  • Partner with talent acquisition team on recruitment plans and development of key value proposition for the center.
  • Provide compensation guidance as necessary.
  • Build trusted relationships and partner effectively with leaders to provide impeccable, succinct, and thoroughly vetted solutions to complex HR issues.
  • Ensure the central WPP HR policies, procedures and practices of the business comply fully with legal and regulatory requirements.

 

What you'll need:

  • Demonstrable experience of advising leaders on a wide range of HR issues.
  • To be a self-starter and able to hit the ground running.
  • To be pragmatic in understanding the priority and importance of people management issues.
  • The ability to use initiative and judgment in resolving complex HR problems or queries.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A confident understanding of US employment law legislation to raise & mitigate risk.
  • A demonstrable proactive approach to work.
  • To display a passion for excellence and the role HR can play in improving services.
  • Strong communication skills, not only what to effectively communicate, but how and when, with a global focus.
  • To understand the business inside and out to then be able to contribute effectively and provide timely, effective guidance and support to our leaders.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent multi-tasking ability.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and cope well with ambiguity.

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
