About the role:
In this role, you will play an essential role in building our pharmacy utilization management department. The Expert Pharmacy Technician role is responsible for being a subject matter expert in all areas of pharmacy clinical review. You will have a passion for teaching others and enjoy training new hires. Experts will aspire to seek feedback for improvement and provide actionable solutions. This role updates and maintains operational documents and tools. The expert role will stand as a first line of communication for technicians and will also support the team when the Team Lead is out of the office or unavailable. This opportunity allows the expert to develop leadership skills that enhance competencies for further growth.
You will report into the Pharmacy Clinical Review Team Lead.
Training new team members hired to the pharmacy clinical review team
Handling provider and member escalations through various channels with the highest level of customer service and care
Partner with Lead to coach on team member performance for techs who are struggling in certain areas and need additional training or coaching.
Updating and maintaining training content, standard operating procedures, job aids and Confluence workspace
Standing as a liaison to assist other teams who have pharmacy questions and escalations
Meeting required decision-making timeframes, including promptly triggering escalation for cases requiring pharmacist review
Clearly documenting all communication and decision-making, ensuring a peer could easily reference and understand your decision
Demonstrating the highest level of professionalism, accountability, and service in your interactions with Oscar teammates, customer service, providers, and members
Participating in continuous quality improvement activities
Identify gaps in knowledge and content, and collaborates with Learning and Development for training delivery
Supporting the team prepare for expansion into new markets, as needed
Strong quantitative analysis skills
Strong verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions
Excellent customer service, phone etiquette, and typing skills
3+ years of performing pharmacy reviews for a managed care plan or pharmacy benefits manager
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
Extensive knowledge of UM authorization processing
Some form of higher education or training experience ideally a bachelor’s degree
