PHP Developer

We're looking for a junior level PHP Developer, ready to increase their technical skills and further develop their career, to become a confident, client facing PHP Developer.

Working closely with local and remote team mates you will build, and help architect, highly scalable and usable digital experience platform solutions. You’ll be expected to demonstrate initiative and creativity as part of a talented and multi-skilled team including designers, user researchers, consultants, and of-course other developers. Passionate about technology, you'll enjoy sharing that passion with both customers and colleagues alike.

The role

  • Working as part of a team on Matrix CMS, Funnelback, Workplace, SugarCRM, Marketo, and Squiz Cloud implementations for enterprise clients – involving the design, build and testing of solutions
  • Documenting your work on technical use cases which will be used later for our support team when troubleshooting your solution
  • Performing unit testing, and peer reviews with other members of the team, to ensure the team only produces code of the highest standard

About you

With previous PHP and JavaScript experience, you'll be passionate about solving problems, and interested in learning everything there is to know about our digital experience platform. You’ll design quality solutions which are elegant, present fantastic user experience, and can scale massively upwards.

We’re looking for the following skills and experience…

Essential:

  • Solid experience in a back end or full stack PHP Developer role
  • Good knowledge of PHP 7 and MySQL
  • Experience using Composer and knowledge of PSR-4
  • Experience working with an ORM (e.g. Doctrine)
  • Familiar with Elasticsearch or Apache Solr
  • Experience writing front-end JavaScript and using NPM packages
  • Familiar with CSS and Less
  • Comfortable with Git, Linux command line, and integrating with REST APIs
  • Experience of leading development on a commercial project
  • Familiar with estimating development work for self and others
  • Commercial experience working on an application processing and storing large quantities of data
  • Proactive and self-driven, with strong interpersonal, time management and communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience delivering SugarCRM projects
  • Authoring or contribution to an open-source project
  • Experience working in Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Working in Scrum framework
  • Experience writing PHPUnit unit tests
  • Experience using Behat front-end tests
  • Understanding of OAuth authentication flows
  • Experience using JIRA for issue tracking
