Principal Character Artist

At Zynga Web3 and working on Sugartown, you will have an opportunity to sculpt one of the most successful web3 games in existence.  Your work will have a direct impact on the brand at the intersection of art, gaming, and culture.  We’re building the right team to navigate and pioneer a transmedia brand for the future, as we innovate new forms of gameplay, truly ownable assets and the rights that come with them.

Our mission is to empower player ownership through fun and enduring games. We are seeking an exceptional Character Concept Artist to join us in our journey within an incredibly fast-paced web3 space. You will be working alongside a passionate team that is heavily experienced in web3 games and crossmedia development.

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Conceive and draw beautiful, compelling and engaging characters that elevate and evolve the Sugartown universe
• Have an understanding and/or experience with web3/generative art as part of or leading a character development team
• Demonstrate a passion for web3, tech innovation and gaming
• Have a deep understanding of contemporary pop culture, game art genres including sci-fi/ fantasy art.
• Be able to take ideas from rough sketches to polished finished pieces for both physical and digital products
• Have high proficiency with concept art fundamentals such as composition, shape design, anatomy and proportion, color theory and perspective
• Be excited by and experienced with finding inspiration from historical, fantasy, scifi, mainstream trends, and pop culture references
• Work within established art and design guidelines to ensure consistency within the Sugartown universe
• Work with fashion, marketing, and product teams to support their art needs
• Experience drawing environments is a plus
• Experience with graphic design is a plus
• Excited to work on modern fashion and collectible products in addition to digital art

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as an illustrator or concept artist
• Demonstrated proficiency with concept art supported by a portfolio that showcases high-quality work from past projects
• Are skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work
• You obsess over details and are excited to push the boundaries of your skill set in art that excites and delights
• Love working with other artists, designers, and creatives to have them help you learn and grow—and help them learn and grow
• Los Angeles area preferred, remote ok

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:

Colorado: $91,500 and $135,000 per year

California: $125,000 and $190,000 per year

New York State (inclusive of New York City): $120,000 and $180,000 per year

Washington: $115,000 and $170,000 per year

Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 16 paid holidays per calendar year, unlimited discretionary time off, and will receive up to 6.5 sick days per calendar year. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
