Anaplan is hiring a

Principal DevOps Engineer (CI/CD)

York, United Kingdom
Remote

Here at Anaplan, we have reinvented how companies see, plan, and run their businesses. Our platform allows our customers to uncover new insights, connect their strategy to their plans, and work in ways they had not previously thought possible. We’re growing fast, constantly innovating, and couldn’t be prouder to help our customers move forward with confidence in a sophisticated and changing world.

We are looking for forward-thinking people who bend over backward to put customers first. Individuals who thrive on challenge and are ready to grasp the opportunity of a lifetime. Because we fundamentally believe every colleague brings unique value to our whole. We are a workplace where each person feels seen, heard, and valued, and can contribute their unique talent to our collective effort. We believe that for ourselves and for our customers.

Working within our Developer Infrastructure Group as a member of the Continuous Integration Team you and the team will be working on a shared goal of the group to continually improve the path to production for service teams across Anaplan. You will be contributing to the pipeline tooling that turns code into a containerised and orchestrated SaaS platform

Working as a team, we will engage with fellow Developer Infrastructure teams to integrate each stage of the path to production, to make the developer experience as seamless, fast and dependable as possible. Our next generation managed pipeline platform will involve creating new APIs and interfacing with other parts of the pipeline via an event bus.

If you have a bias to action, value automation over repetition, and want to be part of driving the adoption of DevOps best practices in a maturing organisation then this is the place for you!

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver Continuous Integration solutions built on public cloud infrastructure, third party and open-source build tools, as well as your own components and integrations.
  • Deliver on a self-service model in which engineers are able to use your solutions to self-provision where possible.
  • You'll help to support and maintain your solutions in production, embracing an agile mindset and contributing to development processes that work best for your team, projects and commitments.
  • Work on a complex build system, which communicates with AWS & GCP in a highly scalable Kubernetes environment.
  • Advocating and evangelising your team’s work to the software engineers who will use it.
  • Engage with the Agile process to support continuous improvement.
  • Pair with your colleagues to build everything from rapid prototypes to highly testable and tested platform capabilities.
  • Work on the tools and services that turn hard problems into turnkey solutions
  • Take responsibility for communicating your decisions, successes and failures.
  • Share your positive energy and enthusiasm - cultural fit is a really big deal for us.
  • Spend 20% of your work week on “Free Time” projects where you want to personally drive improvements for your team, our group or the wider company.

What you'll need:

  • We use a range of languages for services and infrastructure but hire for talent rather than specific language skills.
  • You will be a skilled software engineer, practiced in collaborative Agile and DevOps ways of working.
  • Motivated self-starter that takes pride in, and ownership of your work
  • Communication and collaboration skills - you are pragmatic and know how to build trust.
  • You're not afraid to show off your work, as well as learn new things.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm
  • Any experience with Observability platforms such as Splunk would be advantageous
  • Any experience with Java Tuning or Debugging platforms would be very useful

What will you learn?

We offer motivated Software Engineers the chance to improve their knowledge and stay at the forefront of technology. Our Software Engineers demonstrate:

  • Developing and deploying applications to Kubernetes running on public cloud infrastructure
  • Working with other teams on designing and developing loosely coupled but highly aligned complementary components of our pipeline to production.

Technologies you'll work with:

  • Jenkins, Harness
  • Docker & Kubernetes & Helm
  • AWS, GCP and hybrid platforms
  • Terraform & Terraform Enterprise
  • Artifactory, Vault, GitHub

What we offer:

  • A rewarding, progressive career with a company that values diversity, flexibility and understands the need for a good work/life balance.
  • Market-leading salaries combined with generous bonuses, equity and a range of comprehensive benefits
  • A range of sports, health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • 3 days of paid leave every year to help support the charity or cause of your choice.
  • Huge problems to solve –you will constantly be learning and pushing boundaries, working with some of the smartest people around!
