As a Principal Managing Consultant you will work within Delivery and be responsible for all elements of Burendo’s client engagements. You will own a number of accounts from ramp-up to graceful exit. This role is responsible for the client commercials, including renewal targets, margins and customer satisfaction. You will also look after the engagement and line management of the teams within your area that are involved in the client delivery, both permanent and contract colleagues. 

As a central role within Burendo, you will have support from other areas within the organisation, including Business Development, People Team, Finance, Legal as well as the Head of Delivery, however all day-to-day responsibilities for Delivery for the client lies with the CDL.

Location

You will be located in London and have the flexibility to work remotely. Occasionally, you may be invited to our head office in Leeds to collaborate with the rest of the team or join in social activities. Depending on client requirements, you may also need to travel.

What you'll be doing

Account Management for engagements spanning a number of clients: 

  • Definition and implementation of a Client Strategy for each account 
  • Delivering on agreed revenue and gross margin targets for renewals on existing clients 
  • Achieving agreed levels of customer satisfaction, including being an escalation point for any delivery issues or queries that may arise 
  • Ownership of partnership relationships where Burendo is the sub-prime in the contractual relationship 
  • Effective coordination of delivery teams; including ramp-up planning, recruitment, onboarding and rotations 
  • Managing both the upstream and downstream contracts required to deliver engagements  

Line Management of a large team of Consultants 

  • Supporting colleagues with their career development and promoting the use of the wider Burendo team and resources to do so 
  • Day-to-day to line management; including reward & recognition as well as escalations, such as the identification and handling of employee relations cases 
  • Responsible for implementing a shared Burendo culture, aligned to our values whilst teams are on client engagements 

Business Development Support 

  • Supporting the Business Development team with pre-sales activity, such as; creating proposals, presenting at pitches and supporting with bid responses
  • Attending, and actively contributing, at events with both existing clients and potential new ones 
  • Working alongside the Customer Relationship Manager to drive the organic growth, targets and achievements within the existing client portfolio 

Consultancy Activities 

  • Undertaking short term client engagements, for instance; stand-alone, fixed output activities such as health checks and workshops
  • Operating as a “first landed” role with a new account where you act as an exemplar consultant, achieving momentum within engagements, whilst also building relationships with clients, before ultimately backfilling your role. 

Requirements

As a Principal Managing Consultant within Burendo, you will likely have a proven track record in:

  • Leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams across various complex projects in a consulting environment
  • Delivering successful transformations for major organisations, tackling challenges head-on and understanding client needs with a hands-on approach
  • Establishing and maintaining clear metrics and reporting processes for complex client projects, ensuring alignment with agreed goals
  • Developing and implementing strategic solutions for clients, balancing their needs with Burendo's objectives. This includes proposing value-adding options and driving continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on achieving measurable results
  • Achieving account targets through strategic planning and execution
  • Developing and delivering impactful account plans, guiding clients towards positive outcomes
  • Managing commercial engagements effectively; consistently delivering projects within budget and aligning financial outcomes with projections
  • Building and presenting compelling pricing models, including detailed resourcing plans, rates, margins, costs, and forecasts for client accounts
  • Authoring winning proposals and significantly contributing to bids, RFIs, and RFPs
  • Promoting a collaborative work environment, fostering strong cross-functional relationships to achieve goals and deliver exceptional results
  • Coaching and mentoring teams, empowering them in both client and commercial management.
