Job title: Product Designer UX - Pivotal Labs
Location: Old Street, London
Salary: 40,000 - 50,000 GBP
Job open from April 13th, closing date 12th May 2017
As a recognized leader in disciplined agile and lean software development practices, Pivotal combines the Silicon Valley state of mind, modern approach, and infrastructure with organizations’ core expertise and values. Our cloud-native platform and suite of data tools drive software innovation for many of the world’s most admired brands, helping enterprises move at start-up speeds and with greater business agility. We optimize for change and teach next-generation developers to create and build new solutions, and are committed to open source and open standards.
Our methodology is about evolving, in both development and innovation, and our culture is empowering. Our 2,000+ employees across offices worldwide subscribe to an ethos of kindness. We make a point to bring empathy to each and every project, and are guided by a purposeful mission—to transform how the world builds software.
You love design pairing and cross-functional pairing. You enjoy seriously collaborative teams, even with people not on our teams. You like to work alongside and learn from lean and agile leaders. Even more, you enjoy daily product decision making and real product delivery with product managers and developers.
Pivotal Labs is Pivotal's consulting team, and a recognized leader in modern software development practices. We work with many of the world’s most influential companies, helping them not only build great software, but fundamentally create a culture of innovation. We also developed Pivotal Tracker, the project management and collaboration tool used by thousands of agile teams worldwide. Our approach is informed by over 20 years of experience and continuous improvement, and blends agile/XP, lean startup and user-centered design.
In this role, you have the freedom to be open-minded, creative, and self-critical; but you also have the opportunity to be collaborative and communicative amongst other product managers and developers. You will constantly challenge yourself to be thoughtful about the role of design in relation to contemporary technology and be committed to lifelong design learning. Even more, you will have the autonomy to try out new processes, especially in the spirit of agile - do what works, try new things, and stop doing things that don’t work.
Great portfolios show process. We love seeing complex workflows where you were the primary designer. Examples of personas, ethnography, insights from user interviews excite us. Iterations on the product inspired by learnings and insights from interviews and user behavior are a major plus. Designers who show work that has shipped and includes early and regular collaboration with developers will be prioritized. Portfolios of only interface screenshots will be deprioritized.
