Overview

As a Product Manager for Casper, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategies to build our business around a specific product category. You will be responsible for managing products from concept through production and post-production, continuously seeking ways to improve upon our designs and processes. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience, your contact with customers and quantifiable knowledge of the market. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

Product Managers work closely with our designers, engineers, operations team, business development team and manufacturing partners around the globe. You will collaborate with our founders and product team leaders to identify and evaluate new opportunities and manage the product pipeline in your category

You’ll be responsible for cross-functional team communication between our San Francisco Design Studio, New York Headquarters and Berlin office -- including Marketing, Data Analytics, Finance, Legal, PR/Communications, Tech and Brand/Creative teams. You will assure that key stakeholders within the company have the right visibility into development process, and the product team has the right business inputs into their design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the P&L of a group of products and identify opportunities for new products and white-space in the business landscape
  • Manage ongoing product lifecycle for products within assigned categories
  • Work closely with our designers on products in development, and provide feedback on design and concept directions with regards to pricing and feature set requirements
  • Build and manage schedules and timelines for new product development
  • Responsible for consistent follow-ups to ensure that tasks are completed and milestones are reached, as needed
  • Communicate with manufacturers regarding quoting opportunities and work with sourcing team to negotiate pricing at various points in the product development cycle for both new and existing products
  • Respond to quality concerns
  • Mentor younger/junior team members across disciplines
  • Travel approximately 20% time, overseas travel when necessary

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and ambitious, capable of working in a self-directed, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong analytic ability with product line planning, including margins, business trends, market segmentation, competitive research and trends, market research and opportunity assessment
  • Expert knowledge in processes for consumer product development and contract manufacturer relationship building
  • Hands-on user research, desk research, product evaluation, testing and user-validation skills
  • Strong project and timeline management skills
  • Able to synthesize complex information in order to make business recommendations and decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage deadlines
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team and building strong relationships with internal and external resources
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, business, economics or other relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product management, strategy or merchandising
