Carta is hiring a

Product Manager, Equity Transactions

New York, United States

The Company You’ll Join

At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.

We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.

At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With

The mission of the Securities and Transactions team is to structure and bring transparency to the lifecycle of an asset. Succeeding in this mission means that Carta will be able to power valuable, innovative products built on top of this data. This team is not only responsible for building products that help our customers manage the securities they issue, they’ll be responsible for transforming Carta into a transactional platform. The Product Manager for this team will work with a team of highly skilled engineers to re-think and re-architect the way securities, transactions, and the private markets work and operate today.

The Problems You’ll Solve

As a Product Manager in the Equity Transactions group, you’ll be part of the team building the foundation for how Carta’s customers issue equity and subsequently transact against their equity data. An equity transaction is a broad term that could include something as simple as running an equity report but could also include more complex transactions like modifying securities, selling stock, or raising a round of funding.

This Product Manager will focus specifically on the foundational concepts of securities and transactions, the atomic units and lifeblood of Carta. You’ll define and execute a strategy for how we structure mission-critical data around these core concepts, work with engineering to make this data accessible to other businesses across Carta, and ship products that help our customers manage their equity.

  • Create and execute on a strategy for how companies issue, view, and manage their securities and transactions

  • Write clear and concise documentation that outlines business cases and customer problems that are solved by structured security and transaction data
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather business requirements and communicate feature releases
  • Apply a data-driven approach to developing innovative, industry-leading products that help Carta’s customers manage their equity
  • Teach and educate the business on complex customer problems related to the management and transaction of private market securities
