Voxy is hiring a

Product Manager

New York, United States

Voxy is changing people's lives for the better every single day. That’s not an overstatement, it’s the truth. Learning a new language is the single hardest things that you can ask an adult to do. We make it happen. Every. Single. Day.

Voxy provides a cloud-based English language learning platform that’s based on 20 years of cutting edge scientific research into language learning. It’s proven effective, in the lab and in the wild. It’s a tough problem, but that’s okay, we like tough problems and you should too.

You're the person that wants to join a growing start-up as we tackle the old-school entrenched players in a $60B/year industry that hasn’t seen any real innovation in decades. You're looking for a kick-ass culture, paying customers and top-tier investors; we have that.

These things are important to us, and they should be important to you too:

  • Communication - we firmly believe that communication is the key to success and the way we work relies heavily on great communication skills. You should be an outstanding communicator, both verbally and written.
  • Organization - we run a simple Agile process and our engineers practice XP. You should have experience in running an Agile product process and be able to act as a Scrum master for multiple team backlogs. Experience with techniques like retrospectives and inceptions are highly desirable. 3+ years experience as a Product Manager at a startup.
  • Vision - we believe that project managers should also be product owners. We want everyone on our team to know our product inside and out and be able to speak about our future vision with clarity and conviction.
  • Flexibility - we’re fast paced and sometimes things change. We all need to be able to shift gears quickly and deal with the unexpected. Embrace chaos.
  • Respect - we love new ideas and discussion, and while we don’t always agree with each other our strong opinions are loosely held.

What we’ll ask of you:

You’ll be responsible for day-to-day management of communication between product and engineering team, helping engineering understand what needs to be worked on, what the product vision is, and helping them overcome obstacles. You’ll own the team backlogs and will be responsible for prioritization and estimation. You work closely with the VP of Product to help them define, refine and contribute to the product roadmap.

Working at Voxy:

  • Competitive salary (base/bonus)
  • Great benefits: Medical, dental, vision, Flex Spending (FSA), gym reimbursement, mobile service reimbursement, Citi Bike and free on-site language classes
  • Ongoing professional development and reimbursement for attendance at industry or professional conferences
  • Incredible team of super bright, creative, talented and passionate individuals
  • Awesome office space in downtown Manhattan that’s easily accessible by many trains
