INTRACOM DEFENSE (IDE) is the leading defense company in Greece with significant international activity. IDE designs, develops and manufactures products and systems that incorporate advanced in-house developed technologies in the areas of Missile Electronics, Tactical Communication and Information Systems, Border and Area Security solutions, Hybrid Electric Power Systems and Unmanned Surface and Air platforms.

IDE is a registered NATO supplier and participates in international development and production programs, as well as in international collaborations for the production and export of defense equipment.

IDE is currently looking for a dynamic and talented Product Safety Engineer to join the Systems Engineering Section of the Products Development Department.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Achieving safety compliance across multiple product lines and programs.
  • Conducting safety/hazard/risk assessments on products.
  • Conducting research, studies and tests to evaluate product safety and to determine regulatory/certification/compliance issues.
  • Preparing hazard analysis and safety assessment reports.
  • Evaluating product designs and providing design guidance for safety.
  • Developing safety instructions and procedures for when handling and operating products.
  • Maintaining proficiency of worldwide safety regulations through research, development of network, and ongoing education.

Requirements

Required:

  • University Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Greek.
  • Willingness to take initiative and motivation to drive results.
  • Very good planning and time-management skills.
  • High sense of accountability and great ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

Desired:

The ideal candidate will have working experience or be familiar with the following:

  • EU safety regulations, directives and rules.
  • CE marking and certification.
  • Low Voltage Directive (LVD) (2014/35/EU).
  • Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU.
  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
  • Processes, standards and guidelines for conducting safety assessments, e.g. MIL-STD-882.
  • Methods for conducting safety assessments, e.g. FMEA.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Greek.
  • Willingness to take initiative and motivation to drive results.
  • Very good planning and time-management skills.
  • High sense of accountability and great ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
