An opportunity has arisen for a Property Lawyer to assist the Legal, Governance and Intellectual Property Team with its real estate matters, helping to meet Ocado Group’s continued requirements for growth, both in the UK and internationally and drive for efficiency.

What you’ll do:

• Draft and negotiate leases, agreements for lease, sale agreements, transfers and surrenders.
• Review responses to commercial property standard enquiries and raise appropriate further queries.
• Review official copy entries and plans along with associated deeds and documents and perform due diligence on properties including the raising of searches and reviewing search results.
• Oversee post-completion matters such as SDLT returns and Land Registry applications.
• Complete requests for information from, and make submissions to, Local Authorities and the Valuation Office.
• Review and negotiate licences for alterations, wayleaves and other property management documents.
• Deal with landlord and tenant issues and liaise with landlords.
• Review and negotiate heads of terms for new property acquisitions.
• Support the acquisition of property in foreign jurisdictions and manage foreign  lawyers working on these projects.
• Assist funders to acquire security over properties.
• Respond to queries from colleagues and assist them with their real estate/planning-related issues. It will be beneficial to have familiarity with planning law and the ability to spot planning issues in order to refer them for specialist planning advice.
• Produce and assist in giving training to colleagues.
• Assist with the property aspects of construction and engineering transactions.
• Identify and manage legal risks within property contracts.

About you:

• You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with specialism in Commercial Property Law of 3 – 5 years’ PQE.
• Experience in private practice with a keen interest and desire to work in house.
• Prior experience of working with foreign property lawyers on international projects.
• Clear understanding and experience of supporting construction lawyers as part of their transactions.
• Comfortable working and communicating with people at all levels of seniority. 
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work under pressure.
