Reconciliations Officer

The Reconciliations Team is part of the Operations Department at Octopus Investments.

There are 5 people in the team, and it is their responsibility to reconcile all client money cash accounts and stock positions, as well as institutional cash and stock reconciliations and support system enhancements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Daily reconciliation of Operations Client Money bank accounts in line with CASS rules
  • Daily reconciliation of internal nominal ledger accounts
  • Understanding of Client Money Rules and Regulations
  • OEIC reconciliations cash & stock positions with Capita/BONY
  • Daily cash flow reconciliations
  • Stock reconciliations (Physical, Custodians)
  • Total holdings reconciliations and % reporting
  • Corporate Actions Reconciliations
  • Cash, position and price reconciliation between Octopus and custodian records
  • Investigation of cash and position breaks in timely manner
  • Expense and income accruals analysis which includes calculation and processing of accruals, comparison and reconciliation with custodian accruals, and provision of MI
  • Liaising with numerous Unit Trust Managers and fund custodians to process fund rebates
  • Calculation and processing of funds’ income distribution
  • Close interaction with Settlements Team in investigation and resolution of queries
  • Production of Monthly MI
  • Daily reconciliation of Non-Client Money Bank accounts (e.g. VCT, Advisor Fees)
  • Must have experience in a reconciliation’s role in Operations.
  •  to hit the ground running and a strong knowledge of CASS rules and regulations.
  •  Knowledge of Microsoft products particularly Word and Excel.
  • Previous reconciliations experience essential both reconciliations and investigating breaks
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Adaptability
  • Attention to detail
  • Graduate with analytical or numerate degree (Maths etc.) or Finance, Accounting, Business degree
  • Microsoft Excel (VBA desirable but not compulsory)
  • Interest in financial markets
  • Basic knowledge of accounting concepts (desirable)

  • Liaising with customers where required by both letter and e-mail.
