Float.com is hiring a

(Remote) Visual Communication Designer

Who We Are

At Float, we’re more than just the world’s leading resource planner. We’re a team of people living our best remote work lives. From New York to Sydney, Toronto to Cape Town - our team of Engineers, Product Managers, Marketers and Customer Success folks work asynchronously to help brands such as Airbnb, Buzzfeed, and Ogilvy plan and manage their time better. Float is self-funded, profitable, and growing. If you align with our values, and are looking to join a team that’s passionate about helping others work and live more productively, we want to hear from you. Here are a few tips from our CEO to make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.

Who We’re Looking For

We're looking for someone with proven experience combining visual and illustration design to develop human centred brand experiences from start to finish. You’ll create rich design assets across all external facing touchpoints that communicate features, product launches, and the way we live and work at Float.

As a fully remote team, we're looking for hands-on, senior-level candidates who are able to focus on the work and lead projects without direct oversight. Asynchronous is the default form of communication at Float, and we have very few meetings (seriously read here!), so you’ll have dedicated time to focus on deep work. Everyone at Float leads by example and sets the bar for quality. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll partner with our Product Design Lead and work closely with our Director of Marketing to evolve the visual brand language. You’ll be instrumental in bringing a more human element to the Float brand through creating unique illustration and design across all touchpoints. Examples of the work you will play a key part in includes taking ownership of and rebranding our blog from your first day, creating article post illustrations, evolving the design of the Float marketing site, creating engaging infographics and imagery for social and digital marketing communication channels.

Down the road you may also lead projects like:

  • Float digital publication design
  • Cross-channel marketing campaigns
  • Float email redesign
  • In-app design and visual enhancements
  • Enhance Float tools and content
  • Brand swag design

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • A design focus that strongly leans into the brand and marketing spaces and associated skill sets
  • High-level illustration skills to define the Float illustration style, and application across all touchpoints
  • Effective communication skills to deliver work and ideas in a collaborative async environment
  • Ability to communicate complex features into visually simple and engaging design executions
  • Responsive design experience from early lo-fidelity iteration to working with developers to implement your final design
  • Great eye and attention for detail to continually raise the bar across all channels and delivering to technical specifications
  • Proficiency in design tools to maintain and evolve the Float Marketing design system
  • Willingness to explore pushing the boundaries of design into new opportunities
  • (Bonus!) Motion design and animation skills

From day one, you’ll have access to Float’s full brand assets and design system available in Figma and Notion that you will work with various teams to help define and elevate. Your work will be measured by high-quality design outputs, meeting deadlines effectively and identifying and driving opportunities to progress Floats brand design, marketing and product opportunities.

The salary for this role is US $115k. We have a range of expanding and improving benefits and perks including:

  • Home office expense budget
  • Co-working expense budget

For those in the US, we’ll pay 50% of your medical, dental & vision coverage, including partners and children. Since our HQ is in New York, those outside of the US will be hired as contractors—but don’t worry—you’ll have access to the same great benefits. We’re a global company and we encourage people of all different locations, nationalities, backgrounds, and perspectives to apply.
