Carbo Culture is hiring a

Sales Strategist (Biochar)

Helsinki, Finland

Location: Helsinki, Finland / remote Europe

Carbo Culture is a carbon removal technology developer on a mission to help mitigate climate change by permanently removing CO2. We’re headquartered in Helsinki with operations in the UK and the US. Our team is largely remote, and we meet for team or company-wide summits. We work closely together online across time zones using tools such as Slack, Zoom, and the Google suite.

We’re looking for a Sales Strategist for Biochar products to join our team and drive our biochar commercialisation efforts.

Building on our existing positive reputation in the carbon removal industry and ongoing science and R&D trials, you will bring your sales and business development skills to bring in key accounts for Carbo Culture’s upcoming biochar production in Northern Europe.

You will engage with biochar customers, especially in the agriculture space, creating strong value propositions for customers and end users alike, and managing the sales process from start to finish.

Ideally, you have sold early-stage agricultural products before, and have hands-on experience of managing customer accounts, prospecting new customers and using sales tools.

You are comfortable working in a startup team in a hands-on environment.

Our team is globally distributed with R&D staff and planned operations in Finland. This role is remote, and ideally based either in Finland/the Nordics or working within the European time zone with the ability to travel on a monthly basis.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Managing accounts, securing off-take agreements
  • Identify companies within target verticals, complete outreach campaigns, assess customer applicability, and drive customers to signed sales agreements
  • Together with colleagues, this person will help create marketing and pitch material, strategic selling points/value propositions, and market direction.

Your experience and skills

  • Proven experience in early development sales and managing customer pipelines with a prototype-stage product
  • Cold outreach skills: excited by picking up the phone or writing an email to prospective customers
  • Professional experience within the agriculture market (e.g. growing media, soil amendments, fertilisers, etc…)
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Academic studies/background in agrology, soil science, biochemistry or related field
  • Fluent English, and additional Nordic languages

Your characteristics to bring to the team

  • Fantastic team-centric attitude with a willingness to take feedback
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and an attitude to get things done
  • Can stay organised when managing many customers across various applications
  • Comfortable with uncertainty - biochar is a new field and there are no “best practices” or account standards in place yet
  • Needs to be able to work with our multidisciplinary team members and ask the right questions

Not necessary, but we’d love it:

  • Experience or knowledge of biochar or other soil amendment and fertilizer products
  • An excitement about green agricultural practices
  • Sales agreements, contracts creation, and negotiation experience
  • Experience with sales and pipeline tools like HubSpot
