Scientist I - Advanced Pathology Services

Location: Aliso Viejo, CA

Compensation: $90,000.00-110,000.00 per year

Overview:

Invicro seeks an independent and motivated research scientist to contribute to contract research studies whose primary goal is pre-clinical drug discovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out histology and immunohistochemistry studies to explore and support target validation and drug development. The Scientist in this role will be working hands-on with a diversity of techniques ranging from standard histological staining and microscopy to method development and implementation of novel autoradiography assays using radioactive compounds. The Scientist is highly self-motivated and goal-oriented and is able to apply a wide range of wet-bench and histology-based techniques, such as IHC, multiplex-IF, and ISH.  They must have familiarity and experience in tissue image analysis involving immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence multiplexing with rodent, canine, non-human primate, and human tissue samples.  The Scientist is, capable of taking initiatives and working independently as well as in the team setting, with proven capability of attention to detail.  They will be able to self-organize and operate effectively without significant day-to-day oversight, while staying tightly connected to internal stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:

• Implementing grossing and histology methods
• Develop immunohistochemical (IHC) and immunofluorescent (IF) techniques on mammalian tissue sections to develop and implement histology assays, including single- and multiplexing.
• Perform high-throughput automated immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization
• Perform experiments to improve assay performance and robustness
• Perform antibody assay validations with frozen/FFPE tissue samples
• Generate experimental results using whole slide scanners
• Discuss and present experimental data and research findings in both written and oral formats.
• Work collaboratively on multiple concurrent projects and coordinate activities with other team members.
• Maintenance/tracking of collected samples and slides

Qualifications and Skills:

• BS with at least 3 years of experience
• Must have experience in optimizing IHC/IF antibodies manually and with various automated equipment
• Skill with microscopy and whole slide imaging
• Ability to multitask work and meet deadlines in an environment of change
• Strong analytical skills and ability to balance attention to detail while working to deadlines           
• Self-motivated and resourceful with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to independently manage workflow to see projects through from start to completion
