Security Engineer

As a security engineer on the technology team you will be responsible for helping developers create secure systems, testings those systems, and making sure that they are deployed securely to production environments.

You will have a broad understanding of modern application design and deployment best practices, be comfortable testing systems to ensure those best practices are followed and have the communication skills necessary to help the rest of the team understand what needs to be done. You should be able to quantify risk in a way which makes sense for the scale and importance of the campaign and be able to work with all levels of the campaign to ensure that things run securely.

Responsibilities

  • Advising teams on application/cloud-oriented security architecture and best-practices
  • Application security testing (pen testing)
  • Manage security controls in AWS and other third-party systems
  • Crafting policies and practices that balance safety with the rapid scaling of our infrastructure and organization
  • Identifying and evaluating threats to our internet presence and analytics systems

Requirements

  • An understanding of the challenges and advantages unique to security and privacy in the public cloud and in agile/DevOps environments
  • Scripting experience (esp. with Python)
  • Familiarity with the security issues associated with distributed systems
  • An understanding of modern deployment tools like Jenkins, Git, Docker, etc.
