From the restaurants side, TheFork provides them with a software solution, TheFork Manager, that enables restaurants to optimize reservations management, streamline operations and ultimately improve service and revenues, following Yield Management principles of price variability depending on time, practices which are used successfully in the travel and hotel industries.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will support the Manager in the delivery of accounting and finance services, manage the general ledgers for the Fork Group in Australia and assist in preparation of monthly annual financial statements and reports.

This role will be based in Sydney, Australia. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the financial system general ledgers, including posting journals, reconciling balance sheet accounts and analysing movements
  • In conjunction with the Finance Director develop and prepare additional management information reports
  • Assist in the documentation, enhancement and automation of systems and processes
  • Assist maintenance of SOX internal control environment and dealings with internal and external auditors
  • Be responsible for the month end close process, including journal posting, internal reporting and analysis
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Accounts payable ensuring accurate and timely payments of all invoices
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Payroll accounting
  • Ensure accurate and timely lodgement of BAS and IAS
  • Preparation of the Annual Statutory accounts
  • Ensure compliance with local GAAP principles
  • Manage year end audit process
  • Cash flow reporting
  • Maintenance of fixed assets register
  • Work closely with the local Accounts Receivable team to ensure smooth close process
  • Ad-hoc accounting tasks or projects
  • Liaise with the Accounting manager to improve financial procedures
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide accounting support to the local Sydney office as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Accounting degree and preferable professional accounting qualifications (or in the process of obtaining qualifications)
  • Minimum of five years proven experience in accounting (Big Four experience would be a plus)
  • Self-starter with attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills Solid analytical and PC skills (Advanced MS Office Excel user)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail
