The Autonomous Vehicle Security (AVsec) team at Cruise focuses on securing the autonomous vehicle itself. This includes all the AV components in the vehicle, how they communicate with each other, and the vehicle’s communication to our back-office systems. This requires partnering with groups throughout the company to create and deliver components and systems that are secure. Our work includes building and deploying security mechanisms such as secure boot, key management systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, authenticated and encrypted communication streams, cryptographic systems, and tooling to make it all work. We perform threat models and work on secure design for current and future vehicles. The team audits and assesses code and systems for security threats and remediates problems when identified.
We are especially interested in speaking with candidates that have diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We’re solving novel security problems at Cruise; novel perspectives make this easier!
