Senior Backend Engineer

Tomorrow.io's engineering department is focused on building life changing software and products at scale, from infrastructure that handles massive amounts of data to outstanding customer-centric user experiences in B2B, B2C and B2D products that change billions of lives worldwide.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Tomorrow.io. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our weather services.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for scaling our systems to handle large amounts of data, as well as optimizing their performance to ensure a smooth and efficient user experience.

What you'll do:

• You will be responsible for designing and implementing high scale APIs to allow our various services to communicate with each other and with external systems.
• You will be responsible for the deployment and maintenance of our backend systems.
• Perform code reviews, design reviews, evaluate implementations, and provide feedback to fellow team members.
• Help improve and automate the process by detecting inefficiencies, suggesting ways to improve and implement them.
• Contribute to the company’s engineering culture, by implementing best engineering practices and a positive approach

What do you bring?

• Strong background in software development, with experience in languages such as Go, Rust and Kotlin
• Basic understanding of DevOps principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Good understanding of database design and management
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure
