Waracle is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join us on a contract (Outside IR35) basis.
The Senior Engineer will be based from any of our offices (Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or London) in a hybrid working pattern.
As a Backend Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining server-side applications and services. You will work closely with our front-end developers, product teams, and DevOps to ensure the seamless delivery of highly scalable and reliable applications.
As a Senior Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend systems.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
Collaborate with the front-end team to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Ensure high performance, quality, and responsiveness of backend services.
Manage and deploy cloud-based applications, ensuring scalability, security, and availability.
Implement and maintain databases, including performance tuning and optimization.
Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
Troubleshoot and debug complex issues to optimise application performance and user experience.
Work in an Agile environment, participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Implement security and data protection measures.
Collaborate with DevOps to optimise CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployments.
