Senior Business Development Manager (APAC)

The Integrated Partnerships team drives growth by launching global partnerships with business platforms and software providers. We help companies bring Wise’s cross-border payments capabilities to their customers - directly integrated in their core product. 

We’re looking for a Senior Business Development Manager  to join our growing global team, based in our Singapore office. The role is a unique opportunity to spearhead the team’s efforts in APAC and be part of a high-impact, very visible team. You will get to launch global partnerships with businesses - by helping them design, build and launch payments capabilities in their product, powered by the Wise API.

You will work as part of our global team across the UK (London), Europe (Tallinn), the US (New York and Tampa), Australia (Sydney) and Singapore. We work closely as a team - we succeed, grow, learn and fail together. You’ll have the space and autonomy to get stuff done in your own way, as long as you contribute to the team’s success and demonstrate our company values. This won’t suit everyone.

A bit more about the role

Partnerships Manager 

  1. Generate new business prospects in APAC - cultivating your existing network and/or building a new one, you’ll be sourcing leads and researching vertical opportunities in APAC. You will scope and size opportunities and know how to prioritise them based on impact. You will comfortably navigate organisations, manage many simultaneous conversations and drive deals across long sales cycles.
  2. Sell the Wise for Platforms API solution - pitching and delivering RFP/RFI responses. You will pitch Wise as a company, explain our payments capabilities, technical requirements, commercial models and integration plans. You will take a consultative approach to sales and develop an honest working relationship with all stakeholders. Comfortable and able to influence/manage stakeholders both internally and externally through the sales cycle.
  3. Close new partnership deals - leading Legal, Commercial and Tech negotiations. You will develop a deep product and commercial knowledge for each deal and effectively use data to close partnerships that contribute to our main KPI - new business volume processed through Wise.
  4. Manage implementation cycles - coordinating Tech, Product and Support. You will work closely with our Implementation Managers to deliver technical solutions based on prospect requirements. 
  5. Launch new partners - leading go-to-market efforts with PR and Marketing, working across multiple internal and external teams in order to get the partnerships live according to the deadlines set.

A bit about you / how to know you’re a good fit for the role

  • Product & Tech - you have experience working on complex API integrations, delivering custom technical solutions to meet partner requirements and have gone deep with your product knowledge. Our API documents are public - check these out to start understanding the product.
  • Payments - you have payment sector expertise, including an understanding of regulation and compliance. Leadership - you have led a team and helped direct-reports develop new skills and grow. You value teamwork and enjoy helping those around you grow. This makes you as happy as your own personal progress.
  • Autonomy - you’re comfortable learning on the job and working things out for yourself,  you’re used to building and executing your own strategy with the support of the wider team. 
  • Experience - you have 10+ years of experience in Sales and Partnerships in APAC. You understand the complexity of the APAC market and difference cultural nuances from one country to the other. You are willing to cultivate and build a new network across APAC - including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Fluency in additional Asian languages is a plus.
