We are a start-up located in San Jose, California working on new energy storage technology to allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. Do you want to make a major contribution to this critical part of the future energy economy?
 
QuantumScape has a need for a Senior Cell Assembly and Fabrication Process Engineer within the Manufacturing / Cell Engineering Team. As a member of this multifaceted group, you will help lead the design and assembly of our full battery cell. This includes working with polymer and adhesive materials to develop production processes that will help put our technology on the road.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pioneer new cell assembly processes using adhesives
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to design and optimize equipment
  • Independently plan and execute experiments to characterize the properties of critical components
  • Analyze component performance data in order to present your findings to the team
  • Define process specifications and ensure quality control

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience (3 years with MS; 1 year with Ph.D.), working with fabrication tools, performing experiments, and analyzing data
  • Expertise in device assembly/fabrication

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science (or similar field) with 1+ years of industry experience or Masters with +4 years of experience or Bachelors with 6+ years of experience
  • Experience working with adhesives and sealants to mass-produce products
  • Familiarity with statistics and data analysis software (e.g. Python, JMP)
