TransferWise is hiring a

Senior Content Designer - Design Systems

London, United Kingdom

The Design Systems team at Wise is responsible for a collection of principles, patterns, and guidelines that form Neptune, our design system. Our goal is to reduce the time it takes for our product teams to design and build new features, while increasing the overall quality of our product and promoting alignment across teams and disciplines.

You will be working closely with product designers and engineers to maintain and evolve the design system, making sure the patterns we recommend are those that work best for Wise customers and our internal design system customers.

The role:

  • You’ll be embedded within the design systems team — a tight-knit, cross-functional team of engineers and product designers — where you can help drive direction, deliver impact, and improve the way we build our product.
  • You’ll influence how content shapes the product at a global scale, working with our content guild to develop style guides, content patterns, and best practices.
  • You’ll write beautiful, user-centred guidance to help other product teams use the best components and patterns for their use cases.
  • You’ll plan, create, and test content for our new documentation site, to make sure it’s as useful as possible for design system users.
  • You’ll be an advocate for content in the design system throughout the company, representing the team in product discussions and educating others on how to use the system.

This role is for you if:

  • You’ve got solid experience as a UX writer or content designer, and you’ve written for digital products across both mobile and web interfaces.
  • You have experience of writing for scale, which could include creating writing guidelines, best practices, and taxonomies that help others to design great content too.
  • You believe in the importance of consistency, and understand the benefits of building things systematically.
  • You’re a passionate advocate for evidence-based content — with strong skills in research and usability testing.
  • You’re collaborative, and set a strong example with your craft, finding ways to teach, surface your thinking, and build conviction in others.

(Heads up, this is a product focused role. If your experience is mostly in marketing content, advertising copywriting, journalism, or social media, then it’s probably not right for you.)

What we’re working on:

Some recent projects we’ve completed include launching a brand new documentation site — a one-stop-shop for all of our design system guidance, running a sprint with the entire content guild to help scale high-quality content across Wise, and kicking off our product vocabulary list.

Right now, we’re standardising our pattern library across platforms and defining usage, content, and accessibility guidance for all of our components. We also have big plans to add lots more content to our new documentation site in future, and test and improve what’s already there too. If this sounds interesting to you, please get in touch!

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.

Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.

And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.
