Senior Corporate Counsel APAC


This position will be responsible for directing transactional work for the Asia Pacific region (India, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Australia and surrounding territories) including negotiating software license and services agreements, partner agreements, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. This position will be responsible for working closely with senior business leaders in implementing legal procedures and processes that are aligned with key business objectives.


  • Negotiate customer license and services contracts in the APAC. Work closely with the sales and finance organization to ensure that transactions meet business and finance goals
  • Negotiate partner agreements in the APAC
  • Negotiate marketing agreements in the territory and train field marketing organization regarding policies and procedures
  • Assist in educating territory employees and ensuring compliance with Qlik’s corporate and global policies
  • Manage contract storage
  • Responsible for preparing and ensuring that territory has access to all necessary form agreements
  • Work closely with sales operations and finance to ensure that automated sales process works properly and incorporates legal terms and conditions
  • Assist with other transactional work including financing agreements, acquisition agreements, vendor agreements, joint venture agreements, and distribution agreements
  • Assist in supporting corporate secretarial function in APAC region including new entity formation
  • Assist in managing and enforcing IP issues in APAC region
  • Develop close working relationship with APAC sales and sales operations teams
  • Work closely with Culture & Talent and finance teams in APAC region
  • Work closely in supporting legal team members
  • Understand trends in R&D and impact on sales and licensing teams


  • Must have a law degree with demonstrated achievement from a top law school
  • Must be admitted to practice law in a jurisdiction in the APAC region
  • Must have 7+ years’ experience with substantial software licensing experience at a software company or in a technology-related practice at a top tier law firm.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Sound judgment, and strong interpersonal, project management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment is a must


  • Bachelor equivalent mandatory
  • Legal degree and admitted to practice law in jurisdiction in APAC in region
  • This candidate will be an efficient and organized worker with an ability to multitask on a multitude of matters under significant time pressure. He/she will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and attracted to challenging opportunities within a rapidly growing environment
  • English mandatory
  • Other relevant languages would be an advantage (Japanese, Mandarin or Cantonese)
  • Software industry experience ideally
  • Mobility - 15% - 20% of travel time required
