Responsibilities

  • Deliver code to provision, configure, administer, secure, and monitor Postgres databases automatically and at scale.
  • Design and implement schemas, access control solutions, and fine-tune Postgres configuration to support a wide variety of use cases and workloads.
  • Proactively identify and resolve security risks, bottlenecks, and performance issues across dozens of Postgres databases.
  • Improve the engineering team’s collective Postgres skills and knowledge through code review, documentation, and design documents.
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert for all things Postgres.
  • Participate in on-call rotations with the rest of the engineering team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with, managing, and architecting Postgres databases, and the infrastructure to support them. This may include provisioning databases, controlling access to databases, handling database multi-tenancy issues, performance optimisations, and generally handling data storage systems at scale.
  • You have experience with workflows and tooling used by engineering, operations, and product teams.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD technologies such as GitHub Actions, Gitlab CI, or similar.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Python and Python testing practices.
  • Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code with Terraform or Pulumi
  • Highly organized and able to triage and prioritize numerous issues and projects.
  • Able to succeed in a remote, globally distributed work environment.
  • You share our values, and work in accordance with those values.
  • Ability to work with US time zones

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS, and infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with DynamoDB.
  • Experience with an on-call rotation.
  • Experience with postgres extensions such as pg_vector and hydra_columnar
  • Remote working experience is a plus.

Important items to note:

  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • US salary range $160,000 - $180,000
