Synack is seeking a superstar Senior DevOps/Infrastructure Automation Engineer with extensive production experience in GCP. You have hands on experience with service migration to cloud platforms from other cloud providers, including their networking/security constructs.  You also have expertise in automated infrastructure and container orchestration tools and such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, or Salt.  Experience maintaining build and deployment pipelines through CI/CD systems is a key part of this role.

This role requires hands-on programming and iterative development for various infrastructure components including web stacks, database systems, security tools, and networking/cloud environment configurations.  You will collaborate closely with the Engineering teams to ensure proper software support, monitoring, and security policies.  This is a strategic DevOps role with significant opportunity to influence our DevOps infrastructure and is a critical member of the team--we are seeking the motivation and ability to learn/adapt/overcome challenges with a winning attitude.  If you want to be challenged and thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and love wearing multiple hats, this is the role for you!

Here’s what you'll do

• Champion infrastructure software automation projects and partner with Engineering, Product Management, and QA to define and execute their requirements using DevOps practices
• Work as a member of feature teams to deliver on the infrastructure portion of the feature and product
• Predict and deliver improvements to our automated infrastructure components within an Agile methodology, and also recommend and implement alternative tools and new technologies that could better solve our challenges
• Tune automation to overcome systems performance and stability issues
• Create tests around our infrastructure suite to improve reliability
• Monitor the Synack production application while creating new alerts and responding to issues as needed

Here's what you'll need

• Experience supporting SaaS or PaaS in a production high-traffic environment in GCP
• 5+ years of experience deploying and supporting scalable and high availability infrastructure utilizing CI/CD tools
• Cloud automation experience using tools such as Terraform and Ansible in a production setting
• Container Orchestration experience using GKE in a production setting
• Strong background in Linux/Unix
• Experience with database technologies such as CloudSQL
• Experience with message broker/queue technologies like PubSub
• Experience with event monitoring and alerting tools such as Datadog, Stackdriver, or Splunk

Nice to have

• Production level experience with Google VMware Engine
• Understand security in a systems environment (What does a kernel-based rootkit look like?)
• A technical degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.  To us, DevOps is a combination of great systems engineering and software engineering
• Experience with side projects where you’ve learned to apply new technologies, frameworks or programming languages
