A quick look at the role

The Senior Financial Analyst produces robust, reliable and accurate financial and business information for the Fleet department. You will work closely with the Fleet Operations team to drive continual performance improvement by reviewing and improving processes. You will also be required to develop robust analysis and reporting to the business as well as monitor performance and challenge results.

  • Develop strong commercial partner relationship with both middle and senior operational management providing analysis and key metrics
  • Ensure Biffa’s financial controls and processes are followed including ensuring completion and reviewing account reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate site, regional & area financial reporting in line with the company’s timetable including full profit & loss accounts, budgets and forecasts with full variance analysis and commentary
  • Lead the investigation and query resolution for any issues that arises on the Container P&Ls
  • Provide analysis where required on Fleet capex spend including rolling forecasting
  • Support the operational teams in the preparation of financial business cases for investment, capital expenditure and change programmes resulting in cash flow and business profit improvement
  • Have a full understanding of all the fleet data and processes ensuring the quality and integrity of the data available is fit for purpose and is captured & reported in the best way possible to enable informed Business decisions
  • Assist in the setting up of various fully automated MI reporting and maintain key performance data to various areas of the business
  • Develop a commercial partner relationship with middle and senior operational management providing key metrics and analysis as a foundation for informed commercial decision making
  • Proactively support the business in identifying areas of continuous improvement, focusing on both commercial and process/system opportunities to drive value

Our essential requirements

  • Qualified or studying towards an accountancy qualification
  • Advanced Excel skills (and ideally Power BI) with excellent analytical skills
  • Management accounting experience gained in the service, logistics, manufacturing or waste industries
