Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Hermeus Finance team. This role will collaborate across all levels of the organization to drive strategic decision making. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a robust bottoms-up financial model, managing the long-term vision of the business and performing market research and business case modeling. Additionally, this role will be a critical business partner to a R&D, Operations, and G&A teams.
This role will be integral in establishing core finance processes and evolving how Hermeus forecasts our business to drive long-term value to our internal and external shareholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners across various functions within the organization
- Support month-end finance processes, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain budgets for development costs and approve spending based on targets that have been aligned on with key stakeholders and leadership team
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to drive performance improvements
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and modeling to support business initiatives
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and ongoing forecasting processes
- Monitor key performance indicators and provide insights to drive performance improvements
- Ensuring that long-term forecasting processes are aligned to short term business processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial planning, and modeling, within the manufacturing/hardware industry a plus
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling software
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with Adaptive Planning or similar forecasting tools
