Senior Manager, External Communications

Team:  

Reporting to the VP of Communications & Brand, the Senior Manager of External Communications will serve as a lead strategist for corporate and product communications initiatives, which include reactive brand reputation strategies and proactive storytelling to serve the organizations news agendas. 

What you’ll do: 

This person should possess keen problem-solving skills and be an effective critical thinker. They will also thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to process technical and complex information quickly. As a true cross-functional partner to teams across the organization, this role will partner with executive leadership, engineering, talent and operations teams to align on how communications programs can support their business goals.

This person will be inherently curious about all aspects of Relativity’s business and its technology and will know how to probe subject matter experts to extract compelling storylines. As a innate relationship-builder, they will also need to have strong media relationships and a expert-level understanding of online, print, broadcast and social media.

• Forming strong, collaborative relationships with peers and leaders across the company to inform, develop and implement strategies that advance and protect Relativity’s reputation and support top business priorities
• Amplifying and extending the reach of strategic announcements and key narratives
• Developing a deep understanding our media landscape and foster strong relationships with core journalists
• Extending the reach of Relativity’s brand through new and targeted media verticals including business &financial, aerospace, technology, and general interest
• Ensuring world-class crisis response communications preparedness
• Serving as an on-the-record spokesperson who demonstrates skills to influence earned media reporting
• Apply forward thinking and research skills to shape communications that are most relevant for key stakeholder groups

What you need to know:  

In order to be successful in this role, you should have the following:

• 8+ years of deep corporate and tech PR experience with significant exposure to issues management and crisis response situations
• Demonstrated excellence with media relations, crafting narratives that successfully land key messaging in earned media placements
• Exceptional verbal and written communications capabilities, with extensive experience acting as an on-the-record spokesperson
• Ability to move seamlessly between big strategic thinking and tactical execution while juggling multiple, sometimes competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to work-cross functionally and manage up, down and across a highly complex organization, effectively influencing the communications decisions of leadership
• Ability to manage people and partners, including PR, social media and brand agencies
• Schedule flexibility and availability for critical after-hours assignments
