Senior Manager, Marketplace Operations

Scale is looking for an experienced operations manager to drive the development of core  operational insights, processes, and platform improvements for Scale’s Marketplace Operations team. You’ll be responsible for 3-5 direct reports and oversee a 100+ person org. Your team will be responsible for generating insights that track Scale’s adherence to customer service level agreements related to training data quality and throughout. You’ll also oversee general global operational support. You will leverage an international team and work cross-functionally with Customer Success, Operations, Engineering, Sales, and others to drive customer-facing operational outcomes, take platform improvements from pain point to fully-deployed solution, and coordinate with company leadership on roadmap strategy and priorities. You will use qualitative customer and internal feedback as well as quantitative metrics and KPI’s to identify opportunities, guide decisions, and measure success. 

Scale is at the forefront of enabling and accelerating Machine Learning (ML) across multiple industries. As a senior manager on the Marketplace Operations team, you’ll bring a trusted and actionable layer of insight to help Scale deliver the highest quality training data to our growing and diverse set of customers. Quality training data powers our customers’ exciting ML applications, from autonomous vehicles to document processing. This role is critical to illuminating the guideposts for Scale’s data labeling quality and throughput, and your success will be the company's success in enabling the next generation of AI.

You will:

  • Manage an international team of operators, building scalable processes and reporting cadence that result in timely, trusted, and actionable assessment of Scale’s data labeling deliverables 
  • Manage the product development and planning process related to your team’s objectives, working cross-functionally with engineers, stakeholders and implementers
  • Think through both big picture implications and the small details of decisions, constantly testing, disproving, and affirming hypotheses to identify core problems, solutions and drive continuous improvement
  • Turn ambiguous feedback and communications into clear, actionable plans with precise communication while diplomatically balancing competing interests with an open-mind and prioritizing Scale’s vision
  • Have an in-depth understanding of markets, competition and customer/user requirements

You have:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in consulting, finance, operations, or other roles requiring a blend of analytical, strategic, operational, and cross-functional work
  • Experience leading teams and managing multiple, complex work streams, both setting team vision and diving into the detail of execution
  • A strong orientation towards outcomes, and a history of being scrappy when it counts
  • Ability to take initiative, interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels, and build productive working relationships
  • A user-first mentality, always doing right by whoever is using the process or product paired with a data-driven approach, always digging deep, iterating quickly, and finding data to support plans or experiments
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and process-oriented skills to help manage existing processes and make improvements, as needed

Nice to have’s:

  • Experience running an international operations team
  • SQL experience
  • Deep understanding of ML and its applications
