Test Double is hiring a

Senior Manager of Marketing

Full-Time
Remote

THE COMPANY

Test Double is a consultancy that deploys senior software developers to help businesses create great software and improve our clients' engineering capabilities. Since our founding as a remote-first company in 2011, we've steadily grown to over 50 consultants and $12M in annual sales by remaining committed to delighting our customers—not only by writing great code, but by leaving our client teams better than we found them.

Today, Test Double stands at an inflection point. So far in 2020, we have converted the company from a two-person partnership into a 100% employee-owned business, weathered the economic shock caused by COVID-19, and adopted a vision to scale up our organization to make a broader & deeper impact on our industry.

THE POSITION:

Marketing will be the leading edge of Test Double's next stage of growth. This remote role is our first full-time marketing hire and will own strategy and execution of all marketing efforts, reporting to the CEO. This is an opportunity to take a proven company—trusted by its customers, employees, and communities—and introduce us to new audiences that have an unmet need for our services. Test Double is committed to supporting the person hired into this leadership role with an appropriate budget to successfully execute our marketing strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will be accountable to contributing to our annual sales objective and will have wide latitude on which strategies to pursue and how to implement them. Here are our initial expectations for the role:

  • Convert users in our marketing channels into leads: potential buyers ready to have a conversation with us (Heads up: this is the primary metric we have in mind for measuring success in this role.)
  • Develop and own the execution of a strategic marketing plan for Test Double that will connect the needs of buyers in our target markets to our service offerings and unique value propositions
  • Combine your knowledge and research of the market with our past client successes to identify a list of target customers, define Test Double's ideal customer, and build out communication strategies for reaching them
  • Manage all marketing channels (e.g. web, social, video, events, direct), optimizing our activities and investment to maximize sales traction with our target audiences
  • Leverage the unique skills, perspectives, and credibility of our people and client advocates to create content (e.g. case studies) that will engage our target audiences across a variety of formats and mediums
  • Collaborate with our leadership team to ensure strong alignment in our outbound messaging
  • Work with others to continually refine our service & product offerings based on our strategic objectives, delivery capabilities, market research, and competitive analysis
  • Establish and administer processes to ensure we are regularly publishing high-quality, strategic content
  • Lead strategic marketing initiatives like Test Double-organized events and special projects
  • Oversee Test Double's branding: uphold our brand guidelines, maintain press assets, create document templates, design consultant resumes, and manage branded merchandise
  • Direct Test Double's advertising and sponsorship budgets to maximize return on those investments

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will have 5 or more years of relevant experience and demonstrate excellence in marketing and communications strategy and execution:

  • Experience in marketing professional services and successfully generating sales leads
  • Deep understanding of the markets able to be served by our senior software developer consultants
  • Track record of reaching target audiences by publishing a high volume of quality content through a variety of channels (e.g. web, press, social, email newsletters, podcasts, and direct campaigns)
  • Eager to take ownership over new areas of responsibility and driven to see projects through to completion
  • Comfortable establishing & administering content creation processes (blog calendar, conf. speaking, etc.)
  • Close attention-to-detail and high quality standards for one's own work as well as the work of others
  • Excellent writing skills; comfortable independently drafting, editing, and publishing great copywriting
  • Technical and media skills relevant to publishing content (e.g. basic image editing, information design)
  • Experience in growing a following on social media (Twitter and LinkedIn) with on-message content
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tactical and strategic tasks simultaneously
  • Strong desire and motivation to see tasks through to completion
  • Selfless and compassionate team player, able to effectively collaborate with others
