The Consumer Product Design team is hiring a Senior Product Design Manager to help us scale our self-driving ride service to new markets, new customers, and new vehicles.
As the Product Design Manager for Ridehail, you will be leading the team responsible for the mobile, in-vehicle, and experience design for our self-driving ride service, currently running on the streets of San Francisco, Austin, and Phoenix. You’ll lead the design of well-crafted, industry-leading products and experiences. You’ll create processes that help us operate efficiently at scale, working with multiple cross-functional partners in product, design, engineering, marketing, and the business team. You’ll also build an enduring, strong design culture focused on excellence, collaboration, recognition, and belonging.
What you’ll be doing:
Managing a creative, talented team of senior Product Designers responsible for our Ridehail service, supporting their personal and career growth, and aligning their roles and responsibilities with business needs.
Developing a deep understanding of our customer’s needs and guiding the team to create innovative industry-leading solutions.
Contributing to short-term and long-term planning and product strategy with product, engineering, and marketplace partners.
Championing quality, craft, and execution for the entire Ridehail product group, from initial concept through iteration, refinement, and launch.
Collaborating with cross-functional senior managers to create efficient design processes.
Leading the planning and execution for the Consumer Design System.
What you must have:
5+ years of experience as a Product Design Manager, facilitating design strategy, people-managing senior product designers, and driving cross-functional initiatives to impactful outcomes.
10+ years of design experience, with a pension for craft, execution, and experience/service design.
Ability to mentor and coach staff designers and managers, with a proven ability to help your reports improve their skills and work towards their career goals.
Ability to operate strategically, plan for the long term, and lead the team in weighing challenging customer experience, technical, and business trade-offs.
Ability to manage complexity with a growth mindset and help others thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate, build relationships, develop a shared vision with product, engineering, research, business, legal, and other partners.
Ability to thoughtfully communicate your work and your team’s work.
Bonus points!
Experience in service and experience design, especially in transportation or mobility.
Experience with software for custom hardware (vehicles, displays, etc.).
The salary range for this position is $173,000 - $254,400. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
