Wistia is hiring a

Senior Product Designer

Cambridge, United States

At Wistia, we work hard to bring together people from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities, all with the goal of building more inclusive, more useful, and more impactful products and experiences. If you’re invested in being part of a team where new ideas and different perspectives are celebrated, you’ve come to the right place.

The Soapbox product team is looking for a mid-level or senior-level product designer who cares deeply about customers and enjoys distilling complex problems into thoughtful, beautiful, and holistic end user experiences. We're looking for someone who naturally does their best work when collaborating with a team -- in this case, engineering, product, research, data, and marketing -- and is eager to take on the challenge of shaping the next generation of a product that’s experiencing rapid growth.

Location Preferences

We have a beautiful office in Cambridge, MA. And welcome both local and remote candidates for this role. For the remote role, there will be no expectations of relocation. That said, priority will be given to local candidates, followed by candidates within 3 hours of EST. Given the nature of the Soapbox team, you should be comfortable and excited about building a remote design process and culture.

Our Ideal Candidate

You love exploring the latest and greatest in prototyping tools while keeping emerging design patterns and visual treatments on your radar. You are always looking for ways to craft simple solutions out of complex problems with an awareness of the market need, an obsession for detail, and an eye for sharp visual design.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do…

  • Lead the evolution of the Soapbox UX across the entire customer journey
  • Commit to understanding and knowing our users — both the intangibles (emotional needs) and tangibles (functional needs)
  • Deliver elegantly-simple solutions to the right problems — defined by qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Advocate for inclusion in our product, using hard data and in-depth research to inform UX investments
  • Partner with the GM & VP of Product on customer discovery, and establish a cadence of continuous learning across the team
  • Use storytelling, facilitation, and insights about our customers to create empathy and guide the team
  • Raise the quality bar for design at Soapbox through your design work, mentorship, and facilitation

What You Bring…

  • Experience shipping high impact, successful digital products (brownie points for experience in ecommerce, martech, video)
  • Know how to measure outcomes and guide design work to ensure energy is aligned with strategy
  • A passionate for unifying customer experiences across channels, platforms, and domains
  • Belief that diverse perspectives are the key to delivering quality work, and an appreciation for a culture of courage, candor, and kindness
  • A modern and contemporary approach to UX and visual design,
  • A deep understanding of how modern technologies are used with design (CSS, React JS…)

Who You Are…

  • Love best practices as much as an opportunity to try something just crazy enough to work
  • Believe you still have a lot to learn
  • Have experience designing within and evolving design systems
  • Know how to measure outcomes and guide design work to ensure energy is aligned with strategy
