POSITION OVERVIEW
Science 37 seeks an experienced Senior Product Designer to help us innovate clinical studies. The ideal designer will have a passion for taking on complex problems and designing elegant solutions that help people. You will be facilitating our design process and leading creative problem-solving that addresses the needs of clinical study participants and practitioners.
Our Senior Product Designers participate in and often lead the full life-cycle of systems and applications by working collaboratively with other Designers, Product Managers, Software Engineers, and business stakeholders. Senior Product Designers take ownership and see the big picture to understand how tasks fit into the wider project. This is a highly collaborative role so it’s important that you excel at synthesizing input from a variety of internal and external sources and can guide a team with practical leadership. To be successful, you will need to be skilled in defining, visualizing, and communicating complex processes, user journeys, intuitive interactions, and UX prototypes, and you will need to test your assumptions through ongoing user research. You must be skilled in presenting your work to internal teams to provide context and clarity about why and how a given design solution works.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:

Interaction Design – Identify opportunities for improvement in our products and take the initiative to define solutions and requirements for complex problems via user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences across a variety of contexts and devices.

Design Thinking – Lead user-centric design practices that focus on people’s needs, goals, and limitations through all stages from problem definition to design implementation.

Design Facilitation – Facilitate design discovery by organizing research initiatives, driving ideation, testing prototypes, and providing valuable synthesis and recommendations.

User Research – Form a deep understanding of Science 37 customers, users, and served populations by conducting user research, performing usability tests, reviewing user analytics, and synthesizing data. Know when and how to test assumptions in order to defend your design decisions.

Cross-functional collaboration – Be a leader who brings the voice of the customer to each conversation, yet be open and collaborative with product managers and software engineering to build and ship quality features and desired outcomes for users.

Design Systems - Utilize and positively contribute to our growing design system with elegant interaction components, data visualizations, visual design, and illustrations.

Big Picture Thinking – Cultivate deeper knowledge about our platform and field of clinical studies so that you can challenge and, where appropriate, work beyond the current ask to produce a product with greater functionality or improved user flow.

Mentoring – You are comfortable sharing your knowledge and best practices with colleagues to help individuals to think more critically, and strategically, and improve their craft.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Qualification Must Haves:
-
5+ years experience as a product designer or similar role, with primary experience in UX design across online and mobile products
- BA/BS in a relevant field of study OR equivalent work experience
- Portfolio OR ability to walk us through your recent work to showcase your user-centered design skills including; visualizations of complex user experiences, how you learned about users and leveraged that knowledge to create a great experience for them, sketches to high-fidelity mocks, and clickable prototypes
- Expertise in leading User-Centered Design processes
- Expertise with UX design software such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

Expertise in designing modern, front-end systems including web and/or mobile software development

Deep attention to detail with demonstrated design expertise focused on consistency
Qualification Nice-To-Haves:
- Experience building and/or using a design system is a plus, but not required
- Background at a product-driven SAAS company is a plus, but not required
- Product design experience for healthcare or life sciences is a plus, but not required

REPORTING
Position reports to the Design Mgr Platform who will also assign projects, and provide general direction and guidance. Incumbent is expected to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
