About OakNorth Credit Intelligence
A spinoff from OakNorth Bank, at OakNorth Credit Intelligence (ONCI) we are building a SaaS platform which transforms commercial lending by helping banks build deeper relationships with their clients, open new, more profitable opportunities, whilst delivering credit decisions up to ten times faster than traditional methods, with lower risk and greater efficiency.
This came as a result of our realisation that despite small and medium sized companies (SMEs) being a powerful force in the economy, many of them find it difficult to raise capital during critical stages of their company growth. Traditional commercial lending is highly rigid often making them misaligned with a company’s requirements. We aim to solve this problem at ONCI.
Role 👟
- As a Product Engineer at ONci you will play a crucial role in designing, delivering and iterating on products that help our customers succeed
- You can expect to be collaborating daily with the whole cross-section of the company, starting from your fellow engineers through Product, Design to Customer Success and Sales.
- Product Engineers are also involved with talking to customers directly, discovering how well their efforts are landing in the real world
- This is a full stack role: delivering new products involves working on both our web application and the backend services

- The ONci team consists of 43 people in 3 locations: London (HQ), New York, Bangalore & Gurugram. Our product and engineering function is London-based, and consists of the 12 people charged with looking after all aspects of developing and running our SaaS product.
- The technical responsibilities of the engineering team are:

Customer-facing web app: presenting the analytics to the customer in a way that surfaces the key insights into their portfolio

Data processing pipeline: that ingestion of banking data from our customers and generation of proprietary analytics

- Frontend: Our web app is React + Typescript
- Backend: Python, FastAPI & PostgreSQL
- AWS: Our app is cloud hosted
- Continuous Deployment: We’re deploying changes to our app multiple times a day with Github and CircleCI
- Data: Databricks workflows power our data pipeline
Your time at ONci 🕰️
- As soon as you join you will be contributing to the development of our platform - there’s plenty to do! Additionally you can expect 1-1 time with the various team members who you will be working with day-in day-out - both from engineering and elsewhere. We’ll get you on calls with customers to get to know them and their problems too.
- Once up to speed you can expect to be owning projects from a fairly early stage. Whether leading a project or collaborating on another, you can expect to be building brand new functionality (and removing things that didn’t pan out!) throughout your time here.
