Findmypast is a remote-first business, but we value seeing each other in person to do great work. We ask employees to attend one of our office hubs in London or Dundee once a quarter and meet for company offsites to spend valuable time working together.

About the role:

This role is part of the brand marketing team, reporting to the Head of Community. The brand team is led by the Director of Brand & Communications and includes brand, partnerships, content, PR, internal comms, research, social, video, and community functions.

As a key member of our brand marketing function you'll play a pivotal role in increasing brand exposure and driving new users through social media. Leading on a variety of campaigns, this role requires a strategic approach to drive engagement and increase our audience base through innovative content and community management techniques.

Through social media channels, you will help Findmypast stay ahead of the competition, developing brand awareness, generating inbound traffic and increasing subscriptions. From engaging with our users and identifying top user-generated content, to creating cut-through messaging and working with partner organisations, this is a varied and exciting role for which the ability to create compelling content is essential.

The role is mid-level and we're looking for a Senior Social Media Executive who'll hit the ground running and bring immediate value to the business. You'll take full ownership of multiple strategic projects, including our new-to-market newspaper collections tool, with a remit to make Findmypast famous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop compelling content across text, images, videos, and infographics that resonates with target audiences and builds strong brand affinity across paid and organic social.
  • Community Engagement: Foster a positive online community by engaging with followers, moderating comments and messages, and delivering exceptional service to boost algorithm ranking.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor, analyse, and report on social media trends and campaign effectiveness, adjusting strategies for maximum impact and value focused on ROI
  • Leadership: Lead by example, collaborating with the Social Media Executive to implement creative campaigns that align with company objectives.
  • Strategy Support: Assist the Head of Community in driving social media marketing aligned with company goals.

Requirements

About you:
For this role we are looking for someone who is passionate about social media and online communities. We are looking for a quick learner with a flair for creative content and a solid knowledge of digital marketing. You will have day-to-day responsibility for maintaining and growing social media communities including Instagram, Facebook and X, through responsive communication, problem solving and creative campaigns. 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A strategic thinker with mid-level demonstrable social media marketing experience.
  • Excellent community management and content creation skills.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting, with a data-driven approach to maximising impact.
  • Ability to stay ahead of social media trends and test new strategies.

  • Presentation to the Director of Brand and Communications and Head of Community (1 hour)

This role is permanent remote-first position, working 35 hours per week, with regular team days in our London Fleet Street office.
