Hillary for America (Tech Team) is hiring a

Senior Software Engineer (Frontend)

Vinita, United States

Technology at Hillary for America offers a unique opportunity for your work to have a lasting legacy - a better future for generations of Americans.

Our technology team works in an ultra-fast-paced, highly scrutinized environment. The many products we build will form the technology backbone for the digital, finance, analytics, communications, and organizing teams to fuel our national grassroots movement. This is an environment where small technology innovations can have a multiplying impact on the race to the White House.

We ship early and often. Done is always better than perfect. Welcome to the only 18-month, nationally televised hackathon.

Our senior frontend software engineers architect, design, and implement the user interfaces of our web applications used by millions of people. They are highly productive, constantly shipping code with minimal direction from engineering managers.

  • Constantly ship code to production
  • Own project estimates and project timelines
  • Participate in code reviews with peers
  • Mentor mid-level and junior software engineers

  • At least 4 years full-time experience in software engineering
  • Expert in Javascript, HTML and CSS; able to create elegant and maintainable code
  • Experience with modern Javascript libraries and tooling
  • Penchant for cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side web performance

About our stack

  • We write all of our JavaScript in ES6; We use React + Nuclear JS
  • We make heavy use of the Node community’s “many small modules” approach to software development; we host these as private modules on NPM Enterprise
  • We have dedicated resources to maintain a custom, Sass based, interface Bootstrap and component library
  • We have dedicated resources for frontend ops (builds, deployments, code style enforcement, etc.)
  • We use Karma for unit and integration tests and Selenium + BrowserStack for parallelized end-to-end tests

This is a full-time role onsite in our New York City headquarters. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate remote or contract work.
