Senior Software Engineer - Frontend

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help us make Reddit a world-class website. You’ll be joining a small team of engineers thinking specifically about new Redditors and helping them use and love Reddit, as well as large, strategically important goals like image hosting. You’ll be joining as a senior member of the team, helping to eventually guide others with potential leadership opportunities down the line.

As a Frontend Engineer at Reddit, you’ll be working both in Javascript (server and client) as well as a healthy chunk of Python. Some full stack experience is important for this role, even if your passion or experience leans frontend.


  • Spec, scope, and implement new user­ facing features in Reddit's products.
  • Guide and encourage strong architectural principles in new software.
  • Communicate with our active community about features and bugs.
  • Work closely with product and design to continually improve the user experience.
  • Interpreting opportunities and results through data analysis (A/B testing, etc).
  • Mentor on the team grow and learn, technically and otherwise.

What We Can Expect From You:

  • 5+ years of software experience, particularly on web applications.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Empathetic and positive
  • Strong development experience in JavaScript and at least one server side language (scripting language typically, Python a plus)
  • A working understanding of website security.

Bonus Points:

  • An experimental mindset, and strong experience in data analysis and A/B testing specifically.
  • Experience architecting software systems at scale.
  • Passionate about online communities.
  • Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.
