We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to make critical deliveries in the development of ALL.SPACE's electronically steered satellite ground terminals. You will see the big picture and use this to guide a software team in the design, implementation, test and maintenance of advanced communications products. You will possess skills in the delivery of software that meets the reliability and security requirements for always-on communication systems. The goal is to lead a team in the development of a software system that will result in high quality product solutions.

This position will report to the Director of Software and will collaborate closely with other ALL.SPACE Engineering teams. A deep understanding of software delivery and engineering best practices across various multiple languages, platforms, and applications is essential, as is being productive in hands-on implementation. Deep experience in C++ and Python programming is a given. Working as part of an agile team, you will bring value in the leading, coaching and guidance of your colleagues.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other professionals to determine the functional and non-functional requirements
  • Translate engineering requirements into a design that is functional and efficient using appropriate tools and methodologies
  • Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to the software engineering team
  • Lead the team in the timely delivery of software features at expected quality levels
  • Implement and test software features for embedded real-time systems
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
  • Prepare and present reports on results and progress
  • Drive the optimisation of overall product performance

Skills and/or Experience Needed:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical, Systems, or related Engineering discipline
  • Proven experience in leading software teams
  • Expertise in a variety of programming languages, including C++ and Python
  • Excellent knowledge of embedded software design
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
  • High quality organisational skills
  • Good understanding of software quality assurance principles and implementation
  • Experienced in design for computationally limited platforms and applications
  • Good understanding of open-source technologies and license terms with the ability to decide the tools and libraries to use
  • High written and oral communication skills for internal and external presentations, meetings, and reports
  • Leading an agile development team, driving agile practices
  • High-performance in a fast-moving startup environment


  • Relevant industry experience in sat-com, telecom or network devices
  • Use of Yocto Linux and/or FreeRTOS
  • Familiarity with remote network management via SNMP
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and Web-based UI/UX design
  • Understanding of networking and security aspects
  • Experience in Linux software development (e.g., bash, make, cmake, remote access)
  • Strong understanding of physical interfaces such as Serial, Ethernet, SPI, CAN, etc
  • Familiarity with BSPs and HALs
  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jira and Confluence
