Senior Technical Accountant

The Finance team is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to support the Company’s GAAP and IFRS compliance by assisting in the determination and documentation of accounting treatment for complex, routine and non-routine transactions.  You will also lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assist with other accounting projects. You will also work with our outside tax advisors to facilitate ongoing tax compliance and analysis.  In this role you’ll work directly with Senior Leadership across the Company, and will be responsible for understanding and analyzing significant business transactions and operations. You will be an integral member of the growing Finance team and will help us continue to build out our ability to prepare high quality financial reports for management and investors.

Bird’s-eye view of the role:

  • Working with U.S. finance management, business managers and Group finance, analyze and document accounting conclusions under US GAAP and IFRS for new and unusual transactions
  • Lead implementation of new accounting standards and policies
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed, including audit assistance, drafting financial statements and footnotes, ongoing accounting assistance, etc.
  • Be the primary liaison with outside tax advisors, assisting them with gathering information and preparing tax filings.

Our ideal teammate has:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent discipline  
  • 3 to 5 years of technical accounting, auditing and/or financial reporting experience
  • CPA required, Big Four experience a plus.
  • In depth understanding of GAAP, including financial instruments accounting; IFRS knowledge a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance filings and requirements
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills  
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills; ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Good working knowledge of Office tools, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Interest in and understanding of financial technology and online lending
  • Enthusiasm for a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented start-up environment
