Role & Responsibilities:

Social media sits at the nexus of General Assembly’s PR/communications, marketing and creative teams. Our social media manager will be responsible for the creation, execution and oversight of General Assembly’s global and local social media strategies. Additionally, this person will be responsible for working with marketing and PR/communications to help oversee the company’s reputation management.  

As a key member of our team, this person will be running the show across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media channels to elevate GA’s brand and overall visibility to external audiences. Additionally, this person will engage via social to support on customer service type inquiries and other commonly asked questions. As GA has many physical locations around the world, this person will also be accountable for the oversight, training and providing ongoing resources to our local markets and community managers.



  • Strong writing skills; ability to quickly translate different kinds of information (ie. news, promotions, etc.) into appropriate and engaging content for social media distribution; ability to create resources for non-experts to deploy social and reputation management strategies  
  • Is creative and easily makes connections among previously unrelated notions; ability to combine creative vision with GA voice
  • Efficient and effective task manager; understands how to get things done, organize around various stakeholders, priorities and timelines  
  • Comfortable with data; ability to both manage and measure impact of social and reputation management programs as well as improve programs based off of results  
  • Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; capable, and agile
  • Passionate about General Assembly’s mission - to empower a global community to pursue work they love - and eager to take our social media program to the next level
  • Customer service oriented
  • Proactive, ability to communicate new ideas and implement them within fast-paced setting



  • 4-7+ years of experience
  • Previous social media and reputation management roles
  • Experience with both B2B and B2C
  • Experience with Google analytics
  • Familiarity with Sprout social, mention and other management and listening platforms a plus
