Software Engineer - Android

Role summary:

Lantern is looking for an experienced engineer to help us build the future of mental health care. You’ll be working daily on our Android application serves as the main interaction point with our users. As a core team member you will share responsibility for laying the technical foundations and processes necessary to support a product that is engaging enough to break the common misconception that technology is too impersonal to be useful in mental health. Our Android stack makes use of both react native as well as Java to enable agile product iteration. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build new and innovative product features
  • Maintain high quality product and coding standards
  • Take ownership of projects including interactions with designers, fellow engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders
  • Help make architectural decisions for new and existing product features.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience and/or interest in using React or React Native in a professional setting.
  • Experience building mobile applications using Android SDK.
  • Experience in understanding large and complex code bases, including API design techniques to help keep them clean and maintainable.
  • Comfort with functional programming
  • Bonus Points for the following:
    • Experience with Flux architecture, bonus points for using the Redux library.
    • Experience writing Javascript in a professional setting
    • Experience setting up and using continuous integration tooling.
    • Experience deploying applications to the google play store.
