The Open Platform team is expanding Lyft's transportation platform to include self-driving vehicles. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience by bridging the gap between our rideshare experience today and Lyft’s autonomous future. To date, we have given over 100,000 self-driving rides on the Lyft platform, and this number continues to grow each day. 

As a Software Engineer working on this team, you will help build out and scale our backend services to enable autonomous rides on Lyft’s rideshare network. Our systems are responsible for onboarding and managing self-driving vehicles, optimizing the marketplace, and integrating across core Lyft systems to deliver a delightful end-to-end experience.

Responsibilities:

• Help execute on our long-term roadmap and architecture for integrating our team’s products with external partners and Lyft’s internal core rideshare services
• Help lead projects and new products from idea to positive execution
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code
• Write clear and concise design documentation for scalable systems
• Iterate quickly and efficiently on building new and critical end-to-end experiences

Experience:

• Strong knowledge of Software Engineering and Computer Science fundamentals from a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with object-oriented programming
• Experience in distributed systems
• Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL
• Design, build and improve a set of team owned components
• Proven track record of collaborating cross functionally with product and design partners
