New Relic is hiring a

Site Reliability Engineer (NRDB)

St. Louis, United States
Full-Time

Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Your Opportunity

As the group responsible for telemetry data ingest, storage and query functionality, the Data Platform group at New Relic is the foundation of all of the company's products. Engineers working on the New Relic Database (NRDB) contribute directly to the proprietary database technology at the heart of it all.

Our team exists to drive the improvement of the operational practices and architecture of NRDB. As a member of the team, you will work alongside some of our most knowledgeable and collaborative engineers to ensure the resiliency and availability of this rapidly-scaling, distributed system.

If the idea of working on a system that ingests billions of data points per minute, serves billions of web requests per day, and processes millions of messages per second at petabyte scale sounds appealing, please be in touch.

Your Qualifications

How do you know if you're right for this job?

Must-have:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in distributed SaaS software development.
  • Desire to learn and keep abreast of SRE, DevOps, and software development best-practices.
  • Understanding of computer science fundamentals.
  • Our system is primarily written in Java. If you don’t know Java, that’s fine, but you should have experience with other backend statically typed programming languages (C++, C#, Golang).
  • Experience using the command line to manage, investigate, and fix things when they’re broken.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in high-throughput software development.
  • Experience or interest in database implementation.
  • Experience working in the public cloud.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Ability to work well asynchronously and effectively communicate your thoughts in writing.
We're looking for bold and passionate people to be a part of our mission to create more perfect software. We'd love to have you apply, even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement. What's most important to us is finding authentic and accountable people who feel connected to our mission and values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
