The Field Engineering team within the Customer Success organization incubates products that are used to unlock use of GitHub for enterprise customers and our broader community.

Field Engineering is building products to help customers adopt GitHub and is looking for a Software Engineer who has experience building developer tools to join us on our mission. The ideal candidate will have the aptitude and passion to become a master of GitHub products and underlying technologies and thrive when using creative problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Build new features collaboratively through pair programming, architecture design reviews, and product demos.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in various CI/CD tools
  • Help troubleshoot customer issues as they arise, including participating in on-call rotation
  • Share knowledge with others through solution documents, engage with technical communities, and create learning materials

Skills and requirements

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in software development with Ruby
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions as well as other CI/CD solutions such as Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, Travis CI, or Azure DevOps
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
  • Able to coordinate with teams across locations and time zones

Minimum salary of $75,000 to maximum $240,500.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role. 


Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States or onsite in one of GitHub’s U.S. offices (San Francisco, Bellevue, Raleigh).
